Infrastructure
SKE provisions infrastructure resources in your cloud account. Each resource type maps to native cloud services — RDS or Cloud SQL for databases, ElastiCache or Memorystore for caches, VPCs for networking.
All infrastructure operations are non-blocking. SKE submits the provisioning request and polls with exponential backoff. You can check progress with ske job list and ske job show.
Resource types
Section titled “Resource types”| Resource | AWS | GCP | Docs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Database | RDS | Cloud SQL | Databases |
| Cache | ElastiCache | Memorystore | Caches |
| Network | VPC | VPC | Networks |
| Custom domain | ACM + API Gateway (Route 53 optional) | Certificate Manager + load balancer | Domains |
| Queue | SQS | Cloud Tasks | Queues |
Infrastructure resources are scoped to a workspace. A database or cache can be shared across multiple environments within the same workspace, or dedicated to a single environment.
Networks must be created before databases and caches, since they require a VPC for private connectivity.
Tracking operations
Section titled “Tracking operations”All infrastructure provisioning runs as tracked jobs:

Operations have a 2-hour maximum runtime. If an operation exceeds this, it’s marked as failed and can be retried.
